  • Which countries or areas are covered by the collection?
  • Does it mainly contain unused stamps or stamps with cancellations? Are covers included?
  • Does the collection appear to be complete, or are there obvious gaps?
  • Can you make out the periods in which the stamps were issued?
  • Who was the original collector? And when did he/she build the collection?
  • Are there any certificates or expertizations?
  • Where/how were the stamps acquired (dealers, auctions, postal administrations, swap)?
  • What is the size of the collection (number and kind of albums, boxes, cartons)?
  • Are original invoices enclosed?
  • Is there any kind of inventory list?
