A great atmosphere, a packed auction room and exceptional hammer prices: From 21st to 25th November 2011, the Swiss town of Wil was once again the hub of the philatelic and numismatic world.

More than 1200 guests from all over Europe, from China, America and Australia came to the international Rapp auction and enjoyed the unique atmosphere. Delivering a personal service is important to us, so we were very pleased by the numerous compliments paid by our customers from around the world who expressly thanked us for the great organisation at the event.

Extensive collections and holdings, including a significant number of five- and six-figure hammer prices, were the main contributors to the overall sum of 12.6 million CHF.* For decades now, we have specialised in high-quality collections and consider this most recent success as a re-confirmation of our strategy: At Rapp auctions, above-average prices are paid for extensive collections. This is illustrated by dozens of examples in this report. In analysing the hammer prices, you will also notice that selected single items likewise achieve exceptional prices at our auction.

At this year's auction, we were happy to present by far the largest, most extensive and highest-value range of coins and medals in the company's history, helping to secure Peter Rapp AG’s strong position in the coin market, which has been achieved in a very short time. The numismatics session, for which we produced a special catalogue for the first time, clearly exceeded our expectations, bringing in 2.8 million CHF.* Many philately customers congratulated us for extending the range of coins and medals, and we will rigorously continue with this progress in the future.

We would not want to forget to thank the many hundreds of consignors from all over the world and the several thousand bidders – collectors, traders and investors – for their confidence and enthusiasm. Successful auctions are only possible thanks to a strong international customer base.
